Karamo Brown

Karamo Brown is an American television host, reality television personality, author, and activist, best known as the Culture Expert on Netflix’s Emmy-winning series Queer Eye. He began his television career in 2004 as a cast member on MTV’s The Real World: Philadelphia, where he became one of the first openly gay Black men on a major reality TV show. Brown is a graduate of Florida A&M University and worked for over a decade in social services and as a licensed social worker and psychotherapist before returning to media.

As an author, Brown wrote the memoir Karamo: My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Hope and co-authored the picture book I Am Perfectly Designed with his son Jason “Rachel” Brown, illustrated by Anoosha Syed. His other published works include contributions to Queer Eye: Love Yourself, Love Your Life and children’s titles such as I Am Okay to Feel.
