Karen Beeman

Karen Beeman is an education consultant specializing in biliteracy and bilingual education. She is a co-founder of the Center for Teaching for Biliteracy and, according to multiple sources, works nationally providing professional development for teachers and administrators. She was born and raised in Mexico City and is identified as a simultaneous bilingual.

Beeman has served as a bilingual teacher, principal of a dual language school in Chicago, and a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and National Louis University. She is the co-author, with Cheryl Urow, of Teaching for Biliteracy: Strengthening Bridges Between Languages.
