Karen Biggs-Tucker

Karen Biggs-Tucker is a classroom teacher and literacy educator based in Illinois. She has taught fifth grade in St. Charles, Illinois, for more than three decades and is a classroom teacher at Wild Rose Elementary School. In addition to her work with elementary and middle grade students, she teaches courses in children’s literature and literacy instruction in the College of Education at Judson University, working with master’s and doctoral candidates.

Biggs-Tucker is co-author, with Maria Walther, of The Literacy Workshop: Where Reading and Writing Converge (Stenhouse, 2020), a professional resource that outlines an integrated model for combining reading and writing workshops into a unified literacy workshop. She is also credited as co-author of Transforming Literacy Teaching in the Era of Higher Standards, 3–5, and contributes as a literacy consultant and children’s literature enthusiast, sharing her expertise on literacy instruction through professional writing and presentations.
