Karen Lynn Williams

Karen Lynn Williams is an American children’s author born in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1952. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in deaf education from Southern Connecticut State University, and she also worked as a teacher of the deaf and later as a Peace Corps teacher of English in Malawi. Her experiences in Africa and with refugee communities in Pittsburgh have influenced much of her writing.

Williams is the author of more than a dozen books for children, including Galimoto, When Africa Was Home, Circles of Hope, A Beach Tail, and Four Feet, Two Sandals (coauthored with Khadra Mohammed and illustrated by Doug Chayka).
