Author
Karol Hernández is a Colombian-born children’s book author and marketing leader based in South Florida. Her debut picture book, I Am La Chiva!: The Colorful Bus of the Andes (Dial Books/Penguin Young Readers, 2024), was inspired by her childhood memories of Colombia and by a conversation with her son about a small decorative chiva bus she kept at home. Her work on the book also led to a Spanish-language edition, ¡Me llamo la Chiva!: El colorido bus de los Andes.
According to publisher and interview sources, Hernández was born and raised in Colombia, later moved to South Florida, and has described herself as an award-winning marketing leader, backyard astronomer, and amateur photographer. Available sources identify I Am La Chiva! as her first children’s book.
