Kassia Omohundro Wedekind
Kassia Omohundro Wedekind is an educator, math coach, and author who has worked as both a classroom teacher and math coach in Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia. She now divides her time between independent math coaching and serving as an editor of professional development books for teachers at Stenhouse Publishers, where she focuses on amplifying teachers’ voices and supporting strong mathematical communities grounded in inquiry, curiosity, play, and discourse.
She is the co-author, with Christy Hermann Thompson, of Hands Down, Speak Out: Listening and Talking Across Literacy and Math K–5, which explores “hands-down conversations” and micro-lessons that help students talk and listen to one another across math and literacy. Wedekind is also the author of Math Exchanges: Guiding Young Mathematicians in Small Group Meetings, a book on supporting young learners in mathematics through small-group work.
