Katherine Bassett
Katherine Bassett is an education innovator and advocate who spent 26 years as a middle school librarian in the Ocean City School District and was named New Jersey State Teacher of the Year in 2000. She is a coauthor of Adventures in Teacher Leadership: Pathways, Strategies, and Inspiration for Every Teacher (ASCD/NNSTOY, 2019).
Bassett has held prominent leadership roles beyond the classroom, including serving as founding president and CEO of the National Network of State Teachers of the Year (NNSTOY) and directing the NJ Summer Tutoring Corps Program. She is the CEO of Tall Poppy, which focuses on training education leaders and supporting standards development, and has co-founded Research and Assessment Design Solutions (RAD Science) to develop assessments of social and emotional skills. Her previous work at organizations such as ETS and Pearson has centered on educator effectiveness, teacher leadership, standards, and performance-based assessments.
