Katherine C. Boles
Katherine C. Boles is a senior lecturer on education (1995–2018) and former director of the Learning and Teaching Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she has focused on school reform, teacher leadership, and the development of effective teacher teams to improve curriculum and instruction. Before and during her university career, she spent nearly 30 years as a classroom teacher, work that underpins her writing and consulting on collaborative professional learning practices such as Teacher Teams and Teacher Rounds.
In collaboration with Vivian Troen, Boles has coauthored several influential books on teacher collaboration and professional learning, including Who’s Teaching Your Children: Why the Teaching Crisis Is Worse Than You Think and What Can Be Done About It, The Power of Teacher Teams: With Cases, Analyses, and Strategies for Success, and The Power of Teacher Rounds: A Guide for Facilitators, Principals, & Department Chairs. She regularly works with schools and districts, including systems in the Bronx, New York, to support teachers and administrators in implementing Teacher Teams and Teacher Rounds as structured, peer-based professional development.
