Katherine Whitaker
Katherine Whitaker is a high school mathematics teacher in Kansas City, Missouri and co-author of Your First Year: How to Survive and Thrive as a New Teacher, written with her father, educator and author Todd Whitaker, and her sister, teacher and author Madeline Whitaker Good. She began her career teaching middle school mathematics, including courses such as math, algebra, and reading, before moving to the high school level, where she has taught Algebra A, Algebra I, and Algebra II Honors.
Whitaker holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of Missouri and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership K–12 from Northwest Missouri State University. In addition to Your First Year: How to Survive and Thrive as a New Teacher, she is also a co-author, with Madeline Whitaker Good and Todd Whitaker, of the classroom management book Classroom Management from the Ground Up.
