Kathleen Budge

Kathleen M. Budge is an education scholar and practitioner known for her work on improving outcomes for students in high-poverty schools. She has more than two decades of experience as a teacher and administrator and later served on the faculty at Boise State University, where she focused on educational leadership, with research interests that include poverty, rural education, school improvement, and leadership development. She earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington in 2005.

Budge is coauthor, with William H. Parrett, of Turning High-Poverty Schools into High-Performing Schools and Disrupting Poverty: Five Powerful Classroom Practices, as well as a related video series on disrupting poverty in elementary and secondary classrooms. Their book Disrupting Poverty: Five Powerful Classroom Practices was released by ASCD and has been recognized as a bestseller and widely used resource among educators working to better serve students living in poverty.
