Kathleen Kelly
Dr Kathleen Kelly is a specialist in specific learning difficulties and dyslexia and co‑author of Teaching Literacy to Learners with Dyslexia: A Multisensory Approach, which presents the structured Conquering Literacy programme for learners aged roughly 4–18 with dyslexia and other literacy difficulties. She has extensive experience teaching learners with dyslexia in both mainstream and special school settings, including work in language support and learning support services, as a SENCO in a primary school, and as Head of Sixth Form in a special school.
Kelly holds a PhD, MA in Special Educational Needs (SEN), a Dip TESL, and AMBDA accreditation, and has worked as a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University’s Centre for Inclusion and Special Educational Needs, where she led the MA in Specific Learning Difficulties and related postgraduate programmes. In addition to Teaching Literacy to Learners with Dyslexia: A Multisensory Approach, she is co‑author of Assessment of Learners with Dyslexic‑Type Difficulties and author of Identifying, Assessing and Supporting Learners with Dyscalculia.
