Kathleen McConnell Fad

Kathleen McConnell Fad is an education specialist with a Ph.D. in learning disabilities and behavior disorders from the University of Texas at Austin. She has worked as both a general and special education teacher and later as a college professor and consultant specializing in emotional and behavioral disorders, with a focus on practical, school-based strategies for teachers, counselors, and educational specialists. She lives in Austin, Texas.

Fad is the co-author of The Big Book of Behavior Management, K–5: Positive, Proactive, Prosocial Interventions and Prevention Strategies (Corwin, 2025), written with David Campos. Her other collaborative works include Lonely Kids in a Connected World: What Teachers Can Do, which provides research-based intervention strategies for childhood loneliness, and Help Anxious Kids in a Stressful World: 25 Classroom Strategies, a resource offering classroom tools to address anxious behaviors. Earlier in her career, she authored or co-authored practical guides such as Behavioral Intervention Planning: Completing a Functional Behavioral Assessment and Developing a Behavioral Intervention Plan (Revised) and Teaching Kids & Adults With Autism: Building the Framework for Lifetime Learning.
