Katie Eklund

Katie Eklund, PhD, is a professor of school psychology in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she also serves as Co-Director of the School Mental Health Collaborative. She is a licensed psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist, with a doctorate in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Prior to entering academia, Eklund worked for about a decade in public education as a school administrator, school psychologist, and school social worker.

Eklund’s research and professional work focus on school mental health, including universal behavior screening, early identification and intervention for students with behavioral and social-emotional concerns, social-emotional learning, school safety, and equitable outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse students. She is an editor of Culturally Informed Approaches to Behavioral and Educational Assessment, a forthcoming volume on equitable behavioral and educational assessment of children and adolescents, co-edited with Jennifer M. Twyford, Erin Dowdy, Randy W. Kamphaus, and Cecil R. Reynolds.
