Katie Kissinger

Katie Kissinger, MA, is an author, activist, and educator for social justice whose work focuses on early childhood education and anti-bias practice. She is the author of the bilingual children’s book All the Colors We Are: The Story of How We Get Our Skin Color / Todos los colores de nuestra piel, which explains skin color through heredity, melanin, and environmental factors in accessible terms for young children. Kissinger is also the author of Anti-Bias Education in the Early Childhood Classroom: Hand in Hand, Step by Step, a professional resource that outlines strategies for implementing anti-bias and anti-oppression practices in early childhood settings.

Kissinger has more than 30 years of experience teaching children and adults from an anti-bias and anti-oppression perspective and has worked as an early childhood education college instructor, adjunct faculty member, and education consultant for social justice. She holds a Master of Arts in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, California, and is a founder and board member of the Threads of Justice Collective, a group of educators working to promote social and cultural justice for children and families.
