Keisha Smith-Carrington

Keisha Smith-Carrington is an educator and public school administrator with more than 25 years of experience in public schooling. She has served as a teacher assistant, classroom teacher, and facilitator of adult learning at the state and district levels, and currently works as a grades 6–12 humanities supervisor in New Jersey’s Princeton Public Schools. Her work focuses on creating inclusive, educationally just learning environments and transforming classrooms and schools into responsive spaces of belonging for all children.

Smith-Carrington is the co-author of Read-Alouds with Heart: Grades K–2: Literacy Lessons That Build Community, Comprehension, and Cultural Competency and Read-Alouds with Heart: Grades 3–5: Literacy Lessons That Build Community, Comprehension, and Cultural Competency (Scholastic, 2023), developed with co-authors Dana Clark and Jigisha Vyas. Through these books and her broader professional work, she supports educators in using thoughtfully selected multicultural texts and structured mini-lessons to build classroom community, deepen comprehension, and honor students’ identities.
