Kellie A. McClain

Kellie A. McClain, PsyD, is a practicing school psychologist for the River Edge School District and a Senior Consulting and Field Expert at the Social-Emotional and Character Development (SECD) Lab at Rutgers University. She earned her doctoral and master’s degrees in school psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminal justice from Rutgers University. Her research on the role of student–teacher relationships in social-emotional learning and academic achievement in urban middle schools has been published in scholarly outlets, including work disseminated through ProQuest and journals focused on middle level education.

McClain is a coauthor of Morning Classroom Conversations: Build Your Students’ Social-Emotional, Character, and Communication Skills Every Day, a social-emotional learning resource that grew out of her curriculum writing and consulting for the MOSAIC SEL program and her applied work with students and teachers in multiple pilot schools. In her school psychology practice, she works with children and youth ages 5 to 21 and provides professional development for middle school educators seeking to embed social-emotional learning in a systematic way.
