Kevin J. Dykema is a mathematics educator and author who has taught 8th grade mathematics for more than 25 years at Mattawan Middle School in southwest Michigan. He served as president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics from 2022 to 2024, previously served on its Board of Directors, and has been active in the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Dykema earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Calvin University and a master’s degree in mathematics education from Western Michigan University, where he has also taught courses for preservice teachers. He co-authored Productive Math Struggle: A 6-Point Action Plan for Fostering Perseverance with John J. SanGiovanni and Susie Katt, and he has also written articles for Mathematics Teacher: Learning and Teaching PK-12.
