Kim Monkres

Kim Monkres is a high school principal and educational leader based in St. George, Utah, with extensive experience in secondary education and collaborative school improvement. She began her career as a high school English and communications teacher, also gaining coaching experience, and has since served in multiple roles including learning coach, assistant principal, athletic director, middle school principal, and state activities director, with a sustained focus on building effective professional learning communities and high-functioning collaborative teams. Monkres holds a bachelor’s degree in English education and communications/journalism from Weber State University and a master’s degree in education administration from Southern Utah University.

Monkres is a coauthor of Handbook for Highly Effective Teams in a PLC at Work®: Essential Actions for Tackling Critical Issues, part of the Building Highly Effective Teams series, with William M. Ferriter, Bob Sonju, and Anisa Baker-Busby (Solution Tree, 2025). Her work and presentations focus on topics such as effective collaborative teams, professional learning communities, curriculum development and mapping, instructional coaching, and response to intervention (RTI), reflecting her practical expertise in helping schools strengthen team collaboration to improve student learning.
