Klaus Zierer

Klaus Zierer is a German educational scholar and Professor of School Education at the University of Augsburg, a position he has held since 2015. Born in 1976, he previously served as Professor of Education at the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg from 2011 to 2015 and worked as a primary school teacher between 2004 and 2009. He earned his doctorate in 2003 and completed his habilitation in 2009 at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich.

Zierer is internationally known for his collaboration with John Hattie and for his work on Visible Learning, having translated Hattie’s key books into German and co‑authored 10 Mindframes for Visible Learning: Teaching for Success. His research focuses on school education, learning and teaching, teacher education, and the professionalisation of teachers. He has also written practical guides that extend the mindframes work, including the On-Your-Feet Guide: Visible Learning, which helps teachers apply the ten mindframes in everyday classroom practice.
