Kristin Keane

Kristin Keane is an Assistant Professor of Reading Development in the Early Grades at the Berkeley School of Education. Her research uses mixed-methods approaches to study literacy development and instruction in elementary schools, with attention to multimodal and digital literacies, multilingual students, and research-practice partnerships. She has also worked as a literacy coach, literacy staff developer, and teacher in California, and she earned her Ph.D. at Stanford University, where she previously served as Director of Research and Partnerships at the Language to Literacy Research Lab.

Keane’s scholarship has appeared in Review of Educational Research, Reading Research Quarterly, Teacher and Teacher Education, The Journal of Educational Research, Literacy Research and Instruction, American Educator, and Literacy Today. She is the co-editor, with Rebecca D. Silverman, of Language and Literacy Beyond Decoding: Evidence-Based Instruction in Grades PreK–6.
