Kristin L. Cook

Kristin L. Cook is a professor of science education and Associate Dean of the School of Education at Bellarmine University, where she teaches courses in elementary, middle, and secondary science methods, STEAM education, and school health, nutrition, and physical education. A former high school biology teacher, she earned her doctorate in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in science education and environmental sciences from Indiana University.

Her work focuses on socio-scientific inquiry and transdisciplinary STEAM instruction, particularly ways to engage students and teachers with the community of science. Cook is co-author of Step Into STEAM, Grades PreK-5: Your Standards-Based Action Plan for Deepening Mathematics and Science Learning (originally published as Grades K–5) with Sarah B. Bush, as well as Simplifying STEM: Four Equitable Practices to Inspire Meaningful Learning for grades PreK–5 and 6–12. She has also published research on STEAM curriculum planning and integrated STEAM design thinking in peer-reviewed journals.
