Kristin Ziemke

Kristin Ziemke is an educator, author, and staff developer specializing in literacy, inquiry, and technology integration in K–8 classrooms. She has coauthored several professional texts for teachers, including Amplify: Digital Teaching and Learning in the K–6 Classroom, Read the World: Rethinking Literacy for Empathy and Action in a Digital Age, Text and Tech: Reading All Ways in K–8, and Connecting Comprehension and Technology. Her work focuses on helping students develop biliterate skills that move fluidly between traditional print and digital media, and on designing student-centered, authentic learning experiences.

Ziemke has taught primarily in Chicago schools, including kindergarten and first grade, and currently serves as a resident teacher and learning innovation specialist for the Big Shoulders Fund. She has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished Educator, Chicago Public Schools Tech Innovator of the Year, a National Board Certified Teacher, and an Emerging Leader by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Her classroom and professional work have been featured by organizations and outlets such as Apple, ISTE, Education Week, MindShift, and Scholastic.
