Kyla May

Kyla May is an Australian illustrator, writer, and designer best known as the creator and illustrator of the early chapter book series Diary of a Pug, including Pug the Sports Star: A Branches Book (Diary of a Pug #11), as well as the series Lotus Lane, Paris Takes Over the World, and The Underdogs. Her work appears in Scholastic’s Branches line for newly independent readers, where she both writes and illustrates the Diary of a Pug titles featuring Baron von Bubbles (Bub) and his human, Bella.

In addition to her own series, May has illustrated books such as Santa’s Crazy Christmas, The Sloth Life, and the Juliet Nearly a Vet series, and has created several animated TV series, including Kuu Kuu Harajuku (co-created with Gwen Stefani) and SheZow. She has also developed toy ranges, gifts, and other children’s products, and previously worked as an advertising art director and licensed brand creator. May lives by the beach in Victoria, Australia, with her three daughters, three dogs, and two cats.
