Kyndall Brown
Kyndall Brown is a mathematics educator and author who serves as executive director of the California Mathematics Project (CMP) at UCLA, where he leads statewide efforts to improve mathematics teaching and learning. He has worked for many years as a mathematics teacher and teacher educator, including roles as co-director and then director of the UCLA Mathematics Project before assuming leadership of CMP. Brown holds a PhD in education from the University of California, Los Angeles, an MA in mathematics education from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a BS in mathematics from the University of California, Irvine.
Brown is co‑author of Choosing to See: A Framework for Equity in the Math Classroom, written with Pamela Seda, which presents the ICUCARE framework to support more equitable and culturally relevant mathematics instruction, particularly for Black and Brown students. In addition to his book, he frequently shares guidance on equitable math teaching through professional learning, webinars, and interviews, drawing on decades of classroom experience and leadership in mathematics education across California.
