Laura Wheeler

Laura Wheeler is a high school mathematics teacher at Ridgemont High School in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She writes extensively about math education and classroom practice on her blog Wheeler’s thoughts on teaching, where she shares lesson ideas, reflections on destreamed Grade 9 and 10 math courses, and resources for building thinking classrooms.

In addition to her classroom work, Wheeler is known for her sketchnote-style illustrations that support mathematics teaching and the Thinking Classroom framework. She is the illustrator for several education titles by Peter Liljedahl, including Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics, Grades K–12 and Mathematics Tasks for the Thinking Classroom, Grades K–5 and Grades 6–12.
