Laurie Barron

Laurie Barron is an award-winning educator, superintendent, and author who has spent more than three decades in public education as a teacher and school leader. She currently serves as superintendent of the Evergreen School District in Kalispell, Montana, a role she has held since 2013, following prior positions as an English teacher at Newnan High School, assistant principal at Arnall Middle School, and principal at Smokey Road Middle School. Barron is a National Board Certified Teacher in English and has been recognized as Georgia Middle School Principal of the Year and NASSP National Middle School Principal of the Year.

Barron holds a BSEd in English Education from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of West Georgia, and specialist and doctoral degrees in educational leadership from the University of Sarasota. She is the coauthor, with Patti Kinney, of We Belong: 50 Strategies to Create Community and Revolutionize Classroom Management, a 2021 ASCD book that offers practical, SEL-informed strategies to build classroom community, foster positive behavior, and support student success.
