Lawrence A. Machi

Lawrence A. Machi is a Professor Emeritus of Organizational Leadership at the University of La Verne’s LaFetra College of Education in La Verne, California. He holds an MA in curriculum development and an Ed.D. in organizational leadership, and has taught research methods and design, chaired doctoral dissertation research, and taught courses in organizational development. Before his tenure at La Verne, he taught in schools of education at the University of San Francisco, St. Mary’s College of California, and Sonoma State University.

Machi is coauthor, with Brenda T. McEvoy, of the widely used graduate text The Literature Review: Six Steps to Success, published by Corwin and now in multiple editions. In addition to his higher education work, he has extensive K–12 experience as a secondary teacher and as a school administrator in northern California, serving in roles including vice principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent, and consulting with numerous California school districts and nonprofit organizations. He has also served as a Fulbright Specialist, completing multiple assignments at National Chung Cheng University in Taiwan, where he has been a visiting professor, and his areas of specialization include organizational leadership, finance, negotiations, organizational development, and strategic thinking.[
