LeAnn Nickelsen

LeAnn Nickelsen, M.Ed., is an educator, author, and professional learning consultant specializing in brain-based instruction, deeper learning, and strategies to make learning stick for diverse student populations. A former classroom teacher in three states, she received a Teacher of the Year award in Texas and has spent more than two decades training and coaching educators to use high-impact tools to close and prevent learning gaps, particularly for students in high-poverty schools, struggling learners, English learners, and students in special education.

Nickelsen has authored or co-authored more than a dozen practical, classroom-focused education books, including Deeper Learning: 7 Powerful Strategies for In-Depth and Longer-Lasting Learning (co-authored with Eric Jensen, Corwin Press, 2008) and Teaching With the Instructional Cha-Chas: 4 Steps to Make Learning Stick (Solution Tree, 2019). She is a Certified Jensen Trainer in brain research, presents at national and international conferences, and has delivered staff development across the United States on topics such as reading and vocabulary strategies, differentiated instruction, and how nutrition affects learning.
