Lenore Skenazy
Lenore Skenazy is an American journalist, columnist, author, and speaker, best known as the founder of the Free-Range Kids movement and co-founder and president of Let Grow, a nonprofit focused on childhood independence. She became widely known after writing a 2008 column about letting her 9-year-old son ride the New York City subway alone, which led to her book Free-Range Kids and the “free-range parenting” movement.
Skenazy has been described as a former columnist for the New York Daily News and as a Yale graduate. Her published work includes Free-Range Kids: Giving Our Children the Freedom We Had Without Going Nuts with Worry and the revised and expanded edition Free-Range Kids: How Parents and Teachers Can Let Go and Let Grow.
