Liesl McConchie
Liesl McConchie is an education expert specializing in how the brain learns, with a focus on mathematics teaching and learning. A former K–12 math teacher, she has over two decades of experience in education and professional development, partnering with hundreds of schools worldwide to translate cognitive neuroscience into practical classroom strategies. Her work includes creating new schools, leading whole-school reform efforts, and providing training, coaching, and keynote presentations for educators and school leaders. She has also spent several years studying and working in the Scandinavian school system, including helping to develop a new school in Denmark grounded in research-based pedagogical principles.
McConchie is the author of Building a Positive Math Identity: A Brain-Science Approach and co-author, with Eric Jensen, of the book Brain-Based Learning: Teaching the Way Students Really Learn (Third Edition, Corwin). Across her writing and consulting, she connects findings from cognitive neuroscience with classroom practice to help educators improve student engagement, strengthen math identity, and boost learning outcomes.
