Lin Oliver

Lin Oliver is an American children’s book author, television and film writer-producer, and cofounder and longtime executive director of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). Born and raised in Los Angeles, she studied English at UC Berkeley and UCLA, later earning a master’s degree in educational psychology from UCLA before moving into educational publishing, television, and children’s books. She has served as a vice president at Universal Studios and has written and produced family programming, including the television show Harry and the Hendersons and adaptations such as Corduroy.

As an author, Oliver has written or co-written more than 65 books for children, notably the bestselling Hank Zipzer and Here’s Hank series with Henry Winkler, inspired by Winkler’s experiences with dyslexia. Her bibliography also includes the Alien Superstar series, the Detective Duck books, the Almost Identical series, the quartet Who Shrunk Daniel Funk, and middle-grade novels Sound Bender and The Shadow Mask (with Theo Baker), as well as poetry collections such as Little Poems for Tiny Ears and Steppin’ Out: Playful Rhymes for Toddler Times.
