Linda Diamond

Linda Diamond is an educator, author, and literacy consultant who has focused her career on teaching children to read, particularly those with word reading difficulties such as dyslexia. She is the co-founder and former president of CORE (Consortium on Reaching Excellence in Education), a professional learning organization established in 1995 to improve literacy and math achievement in schools, districts, and state agencies. Earlier in her career, Diamond worked as a public school teacher and principal, Director of Curriculum and Instruction for a K–12 school district, and a Senior Policy Analyst with an emphasis on school-to-career, charter schools, and school reform.

Diamond is the co-author of several widely used professional texts for educators, including Teaching Reading Sourcebook, Vocabulary Handbook (Core Literacy Library), and Assessing Reading: Multiple Measures. The Teaching Reading Sourcebook has been recognized by the National Council on Teacher Quality as one of a small number of textbooks that comprehensively cover the scientific basis and instructional elements of the essential components of effective reading instruction. She has also authored the middle-school supplemental vocabulary intervention program Word Intelligence and numerous professional articles on literacy, assessment, and instruction.
