Linda Levi
Linda Levi is a mathematics education researcher and professional development leader who has been a member of the Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) research and development team since 1989. She is the Director of the CGI Math Teacher Learning Center based in Madison, Wisconsin, where she designs and leads professional learning initiatives to deepen teachers’ understanding of children’s mathematical thinking and support effective elementary mathematics instruction.
Levi is coauthor of several influential CGI books, including Children’s Mathematics, Second Edition: Cognitively Guided Instruction (with Thomas P. Carpenter, Elizabeth Fennema, Susan B. Empson, and Megan Loef Franke), as well as Thinking Mathematically and Extending Children’s Mathematics. Earlier in her career she worked as an assistant researcher at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research, conducting studies on teaching and learning elementary mathematics and designing CGI-based professional development workshops for teachers across the United States.
