Lisa B Cleaveland

Lisa B. Cleaveland is a National Board Certified Teacher and an award‑winning primary‑grade educator whose classroom formed the research basis for About the Authors: Writing Workshop with Our Youngest Writers, coauthored with Katie Wood Ray. She has taught for more than twenty‑seven years, primarily in kindergarten and first grade, and was a recipient of the NCTE Donald H. Graves Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Writing.

Cleaveland is the author of More About the Authors: Authors and Illustrators Mentor Our Youngest Writers and a coauthor of A Teacher’s Guide to Getting Started with Beginning Writers with Katie Wood Ray, in addition to About the Authors: Writing Workshop with Our Youngest Writers. Her daily writing workshop practice with young children has been widely cited in professional resources on early childhood and primary writing instruction.
