Lisa Marie Hinkelman

Lisa Marie Hinkelman, PhD, is an educator, counselor, researcher, and author focused on girls’ development and well-being. She is the founder and CEO of Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX), a nonprofit dedicated to programming, research, and education for girls, and has spent more than 15 years researching girls’ experiences and educating counselors and other adults who work with them.

Hinkelman earned undergraduate degrees in psychology and education from Chatham College in Pittsburgh and a master’s degree and PhD in counselor education from The Ohio State University. She is the author of Girls Without Limits: Helping Girls Succeed in Relationships, Academics, Careers, and Life, a second edition of her earlier book Girls Without Limits: Helping Girls Achieve Healthy Relationships, Academic Success and Interpersonal Strength, and she is also the principal investigator and author of The Girls’ Index: New Insights Into the Complex World of Today’s Girls.
