    Liz Kleinrock

    Liz Kleinrock (she/her) is an antibias and antiracist educator, author, and consultant based in Washington, DC. A Korean-born transracial adoptee, she was born in South Korea and grew up in Washington, DC before attending Washington University in St. Louis for her undergraduate studies. After college, she served for two years as an AmeriCorps teacher in Oakland, California with Girls Inc. and Super Stars Literacy, then moved to Los Angeles, where she earned her M.Ed. from UCLA’s Teacher Education Program and spent several years teaching elementary grades. In 2018, she received Learning for Justice’s (formerly Teaching Tolerance’s) Award for Excellence in Teaching, and in 2019 she delivered a TED Talk on teaching children to talk about taboo topics and building foundations of equity with young learners.

    Kleinrock is the author of Start Here, Start Now: A Guide to Antibias and Antiracist Work in Your School Community (Heinemann, 2021), a practical resource for educators seeking to implement equity-focused practices in K–12 classrooms. She also writes for children and is the author of Come and Join Us! and coauthor of Eyes That Weave the World’s Wonders by Joanna Ho.
