Lois A. Lanning
Lois A. Lanning, PhD, is an independent education consultant and certified Concept-Based Curriculum Specialist who works with school districts at the international, national, and state levels in the areas of literacy and concept-based curriculum design. She is widely recognized for her contributions to the development and implementation of concept-based curriculum and instruction models in K–12 education.
Lanning is the author of Designing a Concept-Based Curriculum for English Language Arts: Meeting the Common Core With Intellectual Integrity, K–12, and coauthor of Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction for the Thinking Classroom (Second Edition) and Transitioning to Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction: How to Bring Content and Process Together. She also coauthored Concept-Based Literacy Lessons: Designing Learning to Ignite Understanding and Transfer, Grades 4–10, further extending her work in applying concept-based approaches to classroom practice.
