Lois J. Zachary

Lois J. Zachary is an internationally recognized expert on mentoring, adult learning, and leadership development, and the author of The Mentor’s Guide: Facilitating Effective Learning Relationships, a widely used framework for informed mentoring practice in business, nonprofit, and higher education settings. She is president of Leadership Development Services, LLC, a Phoenix-based consulting firm specializing in leadership development, coaching, education, and training, and directs its Center for Mentoring Excellence™. Zachary holds a doctorate in adult and continuing education and a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University, as well as a Master of Science degree in education from Southern Illinois University.

In addition to The Mentor’s Guide, Zachary has authored or coauthored several influential mentoring titles, including Creating a Mentoring Culture (2005), The Mentee’s Guide: Making Mentoring Work for You (2009), Starting Strong: A Mentoring Fable (2014, with Lory Fischler), and Bridging Differences for Better Mentoring (2020, with Lisa Z. Fain), as well as multiple Mentoring Excellence pocket toolkits and numerous articles on mentoring and leadership.
