Lorena Kelly

Lorena Kelly is an education leader and coauthor of Excellence Through Equity: Five Principles of Courageous Leadership to Guide Achievement for Every Student, written with Alan M. Blankstein and Pedro Noguera. She serves as an assistant principal in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and began her career as an elementary school teacher before moving into roles as an instructional specialist and language arts curriculum coordinator, with a particular focus on literacy and curriculum development.

Kelly holds a PhD in education with a concentration in educational leadership. Her professional interests include literacy, finance, and education policy, and her work has emphasized literacy and job-embedded professional development to support teachers in helping all students reach their full potential.
