Lori Delale-O′Connor
Lori Delale-O’Connor, PhD, is an associate professor and chair of the Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education, where she also serves as interim co-director of the Center for Urban Education. Her research and teaching focus on the connections among families, communities, and schools, with an emphasis on equity and justice in urban educational settings.
She earned her PhD in Sociology from Northwestern University and her M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Boston College, where she also taught in Boston Public Schools. Delale-O’Connor is a coauthor of These Kids Are Out of Control: Why We Must Reimagine “Classroom Management” for Equity (2019) and has published widely on urban education, family engagement, and youth development.
