Lori Oczkus is a literacy coach, author, and speaker with extensive experience as a bilingual elementary teacher, reading intervention specialist, staff developer, and literacy coach. She has presented motivating, research-based workshops for tens of thousands of teachers in the United States and internationally and has been inducted into the California Reading Association Hall of Fame for her contributions to the field of reading.
Oczkus is the author of numerous professional books on comprehension and literacy, including Best Ever Literacy Survival Tips: 25 Lessons You Can’t Teach Without!, Guided Writing: Practical Lessons, Powerful Results, Just the Facts: Close Reading and Comprehension of Informational Text, and the best-selling Reciprocal Teaching at Work. She also coauthored the Close Reading with Paired Texts series with Timothy Rasinski, which includes multiple grade-level volumes designed to improve students’ fluency and comprehension through close reading, paired fiction and nonfiction texts, and text-dependent questions.
