Lori Sappington

Lori Sappington is a literacy educator, author, and podcast co-host who co‑wrote The Literacy 50–A Q&A Handbook for Teachers: Real‑World Answers to Questions About Reading That Keep You Up at Night with Melissa Loftus as part of Scholastic’s Science of Reading in Practice series. She is a former elementary and high school English language arts teacher and district coach who taught for more than a decade in Baltimore, Maryland, and frequently speaks at conferences and in college classrooms about evidence‑based literacy practices.

Sappington co‑hosts the Melissa & Lori Love Literacy podcast, where she and Loftus interview experts and discuss research‑informed approaches to teaching reading. She holds a BA in elementary education and English, an M.Ed. with reading specialist certification, and an Advanced Leadership Certificate from Towson University, and currently works on vision and alignment of multimedia content at Great Minds.
