Lorraine M. Radice

Lorraine M. Radice, PhD, is an educator, author, and presenter specializing in literacy teaching and leadership. She serves as an assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in New York and has previously been noted as the PreK–12 Director of Literacy for Long Beach Public Schools, where her work focuses on building schoolwide cultures of reading and supporting all members of the school community in their roles as contributors to students’ literacy lives. Radice also teaches courses in childhood education and literacy at Hofstra University, where she is described as an Associate Assistant Professor in the Literacy Studies program. Before moving into district leadership, she spent about ten years as an English language arts and literacy teacher.

Radice is the author of Revolving Literacy: How to Connect Relevance and Future-Ready Skills to Secondary English Instruction, a framework-driven guide that helps secondary English teachers design future-ready, relevant literacy experiences and curriculum for grades 6–12. She also wrote Leading a Culture of Reading: How to Ignite & Sustain a Love of Literacy in Your School Community, which offers practical strategies for nurturing a schoolwide love of reading, and she is a contributing author to the research volume Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: Intersecting New Needs and New Approaches.
