Lucinda MacCarty

Lucinda “Petey” MacCarty has been involved with Math Recovery since 1997 and serves as a Director for the US Math Recovery Council, a nonprofit focused on transforming numeracy education. She holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and has co-authored mathematics professional development programs including Math Recovery Intervention Specialist, Strength in Number, and Add+VantageMR.

MacCarty has also contributed to several books in the Math Recovery series, including Teaching Number in the Classroom with 4–8 Year Olds and On Track to Numeracy: A Framework and Tools for Guiding Classroom Number Learning. Earlier biographical material describes her as a former middle school math teacher and district mathematics leader, with experience in curriculum development, assessment, intervention, and professional development.
