Lucy West

Lucy West is a mathematics education consultant, coach, and author, and the founder and director of Metamorphosis Teaching Learning Communities, a professional development organization focused on improving teaching and learning through robust classroom discourse. She is the author of Adding Talk to the Equation: Discussion and Delivery in Mathematics, a video-based professional learning resource accompanied by an 84-page companion guide that provides case study transcripts and detailed commentary to help educators develop accountable mathematical talk in grades 1–6 classrooms.

Over more than two decades, West has specialized in fostering mathematically rich classroom conversations and accountable talk, becoming a nationally recognized speaker and master mathematics coach. In addition to Adding Talk to the Equation and its companion guide, she is co-author of Content-Focused Coaching: Transforming Mathematics Lessons and Agents of Change: How Content Coaching Transforms Teaching and Learning, and has contributed a foreword to the professional resource Number Sense Routines: Building Numerical Literacy Every Day in Grades K–3.
