Maegan Giroux

Maegan Giroux is an accomplished mathematics teacher, instructional coach, and educational consultant based in Regina Catholic Schools, where she has taught for over a decade across grades kindergarten through 8. Her work centers on thinking classroom pedagogy, fostering student autonomy, and developing robust assessment practices, and she serves as a Canadian consultant and team member with Building Thinking Classrooms, supporting educators in implementing rich, student-centered mathematics instruction. She is also active as a speaker at education conferences, sharing her expertise in mathematics teaching in Canada and internationally.

Giroux is the co-author, with Peter Liljedahl, of Mathematics Tasks for the Thinking Classroom, Grades K–5 in the Corwin Mathematics Series, a collection of rich non-curricular and curricular tasks designed to bring the Building Thinking Classrooms framework to life in elementary classrooms. Her current research focuses on decolonizing mathematics education by challenging power dynamics through the framework of the 4 Rs of Indigenous research, and she is pursuing graduate work at the University of Regina aligned with these interests.
