Maggie Stiefvater (born November 18, 1981, in Harrisonburg, Virginia) is an American author best known for her young adult fantasy novels, including Shiver, the first book in The Wolves of Mercy Falls series. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Mary Washington (formerly Mary Washington College) and has been publishing fiction since 2008. Her work often blends fantasy and contemporary settings and has appeared on the New York Times bestseller list, with several titles reaching #1.
In addition to Shiver and its sequels Linger, Forever, and Sinner, Stiefvater is the author of the acclaimed series The Raven Cycle and the standalone novel The Scorpio Races. She is also an artist and musician, known for working in various visual media and playing several instruments, notably the bagpipes. She lives in Virginia with her family.
