Maika Yeigh

Maika Yeigh is an associate professor in the Graduate School of Education & Counseling at Lewis & Clark College, where she works with teacher candidates seeking initial licensure and directs the secondary MAT program. A teacher educator and researcher in secondary language arts and classroom assessment, her work focuses on preparing teachers to meet diverse learners’ needs, strengthening clinical preparation for novice teachers, and supporting humane, equitable assessment practices. She holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) and has experience teaching courses in English language arts methodology, teacher research, and content-area literacy strategies.

Yeigh is co-author of _Equitable Grading Unlocked: Practical Strategies from the Classroom_, an ASCD book that offers practical approaches to implementing equitable grading and humane assessment in K–12 classrooms. She serves as managing editor of the Northwest Journal of Teacher Education and is president of the Oregon Association of Teacher Educators, roles through which she supports practitioner research and the preparation of effective new teachers.
