Margaret Chodos-Irvine

Margaret Chodos-Irvine is a Seattle-based children’s book author, illustrator, and artist. She has illustrated 13 children’s books and wrote and illustrated Ella Sarah Gets Dressed, which received a 2004 Caldecott Honor Award. Her work is known for using a variety of techniques to create vivid, textured imagery, and she also works in commercial and editorial illustration and fine art.

For Apple Pie Fourth of July, Chodos-Irvine served as illustrator alongside author Janet S. Wong. The book was published by Harcourt/HMH for Young Readers and tells the story of a Chinese American girl navigating the Fourth of July while her family runs a store selling Chinese food.
