Maria C. Grant, Ed.D., is a professor in the Department of Secondary Education at California State University, Fullerton, and director of the Single Subject Credential Program there. Her work focuses on disciplinary literacy, literacy in the content areas, science education, and pedagogy, and she has also taught middle and high school science courses including physics, oceanography, chemistry, and earth science.
Grant is a coauthor of Reading and Writing in Science: Tools to Develop Disciplinary Literacy with Douglas Fisher and Diane Lapp, first published in 2010 and later released in a second edition. Her additional publications include work on close reading, science literacy, formative assessment, and reading in the content areas, including articles in Educational Leadership and the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy.
